Book Recommendation time!!

So, I got my reading habit back in August and binged an entire lot of books. Mostly read the popular books of bookstgram and booktok and I am pretty sure you have seen most of these recs somewhere. The genres I read are thriller, romance, murder mysteries and even read a classic. Anyways, enough chit chat. Let's see the list now.

  1. The Second Lady by Irwing Wallace

  2. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

  3. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

  4. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

  5. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

  6. It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

  7. Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

  8. The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

  1. The Second Lady by Irwing Wallace

This book is basically a political thriller. In this book, the KGB substitutes the First lady of America with her Russian look alike in order to get information from the President. The Russians put a lot of effort to make The Second Lady look like the First Lady down to the most intimate details.

The entire story is about the changes they make, the effort KGB puts to make the two, look alike, how their plan is executed and if it is successful or not. It is a good read and is set in the 1980s.

SPOILER ALEART: So, normally, I don't read these kinds of books but what convinced me to read this one was the ending. So, don't ask how I knew the ending, but the Second Lady, her lover and the First lady are on a plane in London. The Second Lady's Lover and one of the ladies, die in the end. we don't know who dies and the fun is in forming your theories about which one dies. If the First Lady dies, The Second lady will not reveal her identity because the KGB wanted to kill her. If the Second Lady dies, the First Lady will not say what happened to her because while she was kidnapped in Russia, the President was still with his wife, and everyone saw her attending conferences, everyone will think she has gone crazy.

Anyways, read this and tell me about your theories on Instagram @the_missingpiece_ or in the comments.

2. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

This is such a popular murder mystery, full of twists and turns and you will keep changing your theories throughout the book and will still fail to find out who killed Roger Ackroyd till Hercule Poirot, the famous French detective investigating the case, reveals the killer in the end. It's a book you will not be able to put down and it will keep you hooked from the beginning till the very end. Happy reading.

Do tell me your theories in the comments. :))

3. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Now, this book is very popular, and I personally love it so much!! This book is about a popular movie celebrity Evelyn Hugo who was married to seven people. She hires a journalist, Monique Grant personally, by name to write her life story at the age of 79. Her final interview about all the things she did, why she married the seven husbands of hers, who was the love of her life and why did she ask Monique to write and nobody else.

I didn't realise the book is more focused on why she married the men and not about why she hired her. That is a miniscule detail in the books and overall, I had a lot of fun reading it. It is a very good read. Let me know in the comments what you feel about this one.

4. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

This is such a classic. I have this deep-seated love for classics that I cannot explain. I have wanted to read this book for so long. I am so glad I did. It's a very wholesome family feeling, love story between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, a side romance of Jane Bennet and Mr. Bingley.

This book is what you can say, an enemies-to-lovers romance. Also, MAJOR BRIDGERTON VIBES. Its set in the same era and its more about the lower level of society in contrast to Bridgerton.

It's about how they fall in love, what happens in the Bennet family in the course of the book, how the grow closer, it has heartbreak, love, the small family feeling, betrayal, innocence, sisterly bonds, marriage, and so much more.

5. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

I love this book so much, it's such a cute romance story with a fake dating trope. It's about Olive, a PhD student in Stanford University, researching about pancreatic cancer, and the professor with the worst reputation among all the students in the university, Adam Carlsen. The mean, heartless, but oh so hot professor. They start fake dating to convince Anh, her best friend that she was totally over her ex, Jeremy and that she would be okay if Anh dated Jeremy. But when she starts having feelings for him, she doesn't know what to do. She us proud to be a woman in STEM and the entire book is about their fake dating story how it starts, the challenges she faces as a woman in STEM, how she gets to know him properly and starts falling for him. It's a he falls for her first, fake dating, grumpy X sunshine, love story.

6. It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

This book shattered me into so many pieces. I think I'm still building myself back together. So, this book is about, Lily Bloom, who moves to Boston, and one day, meets a guy, a neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid, who inspires her to follow her dream and open up her own flower shop. She becomes best friends with his sister, Allysa, who helps her manage the flower shop. She marries Ryle and everything goes great, all too good to be true until, Ryle starts losing his temper, his senses and his control. Life goes downward and it's all too confusing for Lily since she just doesn't want to be like her mom, who stayed with her abusive father. She meets her first love, Atlas Corrigan, her protector and that's when everything she has with Ryle, starts getting threatened. It's a very honest, very heart touching story that will take you through a roller coaster of emotions.

This entire story is about how Lily meets Ryle, what happens between them, their married life, Lily's relationship with Alyssa, her past with Atlas, the situation of her house, the abuse she had to see that went on in her own childhood home, her love story with Atlas, her love story with Ryle and how much she loves Ellen😜

It is a must read. Let me know who you like the best in the comments.

7. Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

This book is a romance novel. It's about a med student Tate, who moves in with her brother Corbin temporarily, and meets his best friend, a pilot, Miles Archer who is not the best person in her eyes in the beginning. She starts to see him, and lust hinders her judgement. They make a friends-with-benefits deal, she falls for him hard and tries to make him fall for her too. She sees it in his eyes, he loves her, but he won't admit it because of some unknown horrors of his past that make him so reluctant to fall in love, again. They sneak around, have their fun, be Tate wants more, and he cannot give it to her, because his two rules of the deal were- Never ask about a past and don't expect a future.

This book is a dual pov, steamy, brother's best friend romance novel.

It's about how they meet, Corbin's love and care towards Tate, Tate's friendship with Cap (you'll know who once you read the book), Mile's past with Rachel, Tate's love for Miles, her expectations, 'the' scenes, Corbin and Miles' friendship, what happens in the end in their story.

8. The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

This book is about Catalina Martin, a Spaniard and a tall, handsome, American, Aaron Blackford. They work in the same office(both are engineers) , and he offers her to take him to her sister's wedding like a date. She has no option but to take her greatest enemy as a date especially since she lied to her family about having an American boyfriend named Aaron. They go to Spain, where she meets her ex, the best man of the wedding and instead of being jealous of the fact, he is engaged, she ends up having so much fun with Aaron. He becomes protective of her, opens up to her. This enemies-to-lovers trope book is a must read.

It consists of how they met, how their relationship changed from enemies to lovers, how he falls for her, how she falls for him, what happens in Spain, the Spanish family dramas, the wedding, her relationship with Rosie. This book is a great read, a slow burn for sure, but so much worth the wait.
